      1. Head of Human Resources

        Job Description

        The job holder is responsible for formulating and implementing the human resources plans and operational roadmaps to ensure that the school attracts and retains high caliber well-committed faculty and staff.  The scope of the role includes to advocate regarding policies, talent acquisition and retention, compensation and benefits program, performance management, employee relations and counseling, succession planning that would have a positive impact on employees and as an advisor and strategic partner to the school administration.  

        Key Responsibilities

        1. General:

        • Be a role model for the school and deliver on the school values and ethos.
        • Lead a small team of specialists and oversee the full human resources day-to-day operations. 
        • Develop and implement human resources strategies, policies and procedures to maintain a sustainable and engaged school community.
        • Ensure policies are in compliance with statutory requirements, and are in line with school vision and market best practice. 
        • Provide professional human resources consultative and collaborative advice for the best interest of the school.
        • Communicate effectively and confidently at all levels, including faculty and staff, school administrators, school supervisor, board of trustees regarding the objectives of human resources strategies. 

        2. Talent Management and Relationship Building:

        • Establish effective recruitment channels and carry out the full cycle of hiring and onboarding process on a timely basis.
        • Lead the job analysis project, work with stakeholders to develop job descriptions and the school’s staffing structure.
        • Retain talented faculty and staff through developing an effective compensation and benefits plan.
        • Promote harmonious employer-employee relations.  Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations where needed.
        • Regularly conduct market benchmarking survey in order to implement policies, procedures and practices for maintaining external competitiveness and internal equity throughout the school.
        • Make recommendations for compensation and benefits adjustment to existing practices when appropriate.
        • Forecast and manage the school’s staffing plan and staff cost, in line with the development plan of the school.
        • Develop a learning-driven culture of the school.  Assist the school administrators to design professional developing programs and pathways for faculty and staff.
        • Help the school administrators to clarify and explain connections between changes, the school and individual roles and contributions needed. 

        Qualification & Experience

        • Bachelor degree or above in relevant discipline, major in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology is highly desirable.
        • Evidence of ongoing relevant professional development.
        • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience as a human resources business partner; experience in the education sector desired.  Successful and consistent track record of achievement in previous supervisory roles.
        • Well versed in Hong Kong Employment Ordinance, Education Bureau, Labour Department, Immigration Department and Inland Revenue Department requirements.
        • Experience within a multicultural and diversified community is preferred.

        • High levels of personal and professional integrity.  Able to uphold the highest professional standards and must consistently demonstrate fairness, respect and integrity.  Able to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality is imperative.
        • Able to methodically work through complex problems, exercise sound judgement and take difficult decisions to resolve issues, especially when under pressure.
        • Genuine empathy and awareness of the needs and sensitivities of the school community and ultimately be able to manage expectations and deliver management decisions.
        • People-oriented and a professional approach to internal and external stakeholders at all times.  Warm collaborative nature, positive energy, enthusiastic and self-motivated to gain confidence of all levels of stakeholders.
        • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach.  Willing to roll up sleeves and do foundation work, bring lessons learned and explore new approaches.  Proactive and a positive “can do” approach in all aspects of the role.
        • High level of interpersonal and collaboration skill that demonstrate the proven ability to establish and maintain trusting, effective and harmonious work relationships with the school community.
        • Strong oral and written communications skills, including the ability to clearly communicate and interpret policies and procedures in non-technical language.
        • Highly organized and resilient, accurate and attentive to detail with strong statistical skills.  Able to create an environment of striving for quality and excellence. 
        • Mature, stable, presentable, reliable and professional with high level of interpersonal, problem solving, analytical and organization skills.  Strong proactive learning attitude is necessary. 
        • Able to build a culture of passion and foster a healthy, cohesive, collaborative, fun and fair workplace.
        • Self-motivated, with good sense of responsibility.  Flexible, diligent, positive and enthusiastic.
        • Demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative in dealing with daily work.
        • Be fully cognizant of the need to work outside normal school hours (after-school and weekends) as required.
